I moved to NYC when I was 47 years old. People are always surprised by that. My friends always say, “You are so brave.”
I came to realize that when people ask me why I moved here, it is not because I moved to New York City, but because I moved here when I was in my 40s. Who does that?
It’s easy to become comfortably complacent where we are, (at any age), even if it isn’t necessarily where we want to be anymore. That’s because where we are worked for us, at least at some point. That’s why it’s comfortable. But what if we’re feeling like that’s not where we want to be anymore? What if, when someone asks us the time-tested interview question, “Where do you see yourself in five years?” and the answer is, “Somewhere else.”
This blog is inspired by my own (and continuing) quest to become “unglued.” My purpose is to share small morsels that give me pause to think, and guide me toward becoming a better version of myself. Because…that’s one thing I can actually control.
I hope you’ll join me in becoming unglued.
And I mean that in a good way.

My question was always, “Why so far? Couldn’t you have thrived in Santa Barbara, or Buellton?
